Here's a list of the posts that got the most comments this year. Interestingly, the post that got the most traffic is did not make the list. That post is: What it's like to have sex with someone who has Asperger's.

Thank you for a fun year. I feel so grateful to have my blog. Being able to write for this community and read the consistently insightful comments has made the year so much better.

Get Free Shipping on Cargo: The Cargo Cosmetics Collection for Spring 2011

Cargo Safari Collection

All aboard! The cosmetics captains at Cargo aimed to take us on a trip with their new spring 2011 collection, and I like the destination.

I took a long, leisurely look at the six piece collection today (aren’t the pouches cute?) and absolutely love the travel theme. Most of the color products lean warm, and I think they work well with my yellow undertones. If you like the way you look in warmer shades, you might like them too.

For what it’s worth, don’t miss the Voyages Safari collection/kit. I was surprised by how great the products looked on both darker and lighter skin tones.

Now I just need someplace to go! :)

The entire collection includes

Four cute kits with special Voyages packaging…

  • Voyages Gloss Collection ($32 for five mini glosses with a sheer finish and a non-sticky texture)
  • Voyages Bronzing Collection ($25 for a bronzer in Medium and a kabuki brush; exclusive to Sephora counters inside JCPenney stores)
  • Voyages Water Resistant Collection ($25 for a full-size Water Resistant Bronzer and a mini Better-than-Waterproof Mascara; exclusive to Ulta stores)
  • Voyages Safari Collection ($34; contains one full-size eyeshadow duo, blush in Coral Beach and eye pencil in Khaki, and mini versions of CARGO’s lip gloss in Serengeti and Triple Action Mascara)

Other travel necessities…

  • JetLag Concealer ($32; available in two shades)
  • Mascara-Mascara! ($20; comes with travel-size versions of four bestselling CARGO mascaras)

Ready, Set, Jet! The MAC Packed To Go Travel Exclusives for Spring 2011

Planning any trips soon? If you are, and they happen to involve a short airport layover, you might be able to MAC :) good use of your wait time with the new MAC Packed to Go travel Exclusives for spring 2011.

Travel exclusives are limited edition sets, and sometimes individual products, special to travel hubs like airports and duty free stores (you won’t find them at regular stores or counters).

A lot of the bigger beauty brands like MAC, Dior, Estee Lauder, Chanel and Guerlain (to name just a few), have them, and they’re a boon to beauty obsessed travelers like us.

MAC Packed to Go is being released in two “phases” for spring.

The first, available now, features three MAC Look In A Box kits, each one designed with a different themed look in mind using products for eyes, cheeks and lips.

The second phase, which launches in March, will encompass 11 MAC Packed to Go sets organized by category, like lipstick, Lipglass, mascara and brush.

I always try to keep an eye out for travel exclusives because some of them contain hard-to-find limited edition pieces from long lost (but not forgotten!) collections, making them great opportunities to snag something you might not have had the chance to get the first time around.

In my case, it was the MAC Trip Cool Eyes Palette Travel Exclusive that finally put me in touch with the Springtime Skipper Eyeshadow from the 2007 Barbie Loves MAC Collection.

And the MAC Packed To Go sets also appear to have some familiar faces, and they’re taking me waaay back to 2008-2009 (LOL!).

Iridescent Powder in Belightful hails from 2008′s Fafi Collection; the Eyeshadows in Grand Entrance, Smoke & Diamonds and Glamour Check also appeared in 2009′s Love That Look; and the Cremesheen Glass in Looks Like Sin starred in 2009′s Creme Team.

There’s just something about travel exclusives that appeals to my primitive makeup hunter-gatherer instincts… :)

Skim through the product listings below, and let me know if anything strikes your fancy. Pricing and availability varies from airport to airport with these, but approximate US prices are shown.

Phase One: The 3 MAC Look In A Box Sets

  • Girl Next Door – (about $40) Comes with the Eye Shadow in Grand Entrance, Eye Shadow in Smoke & Diamonds, Iridescent Powder in Belightful, Cremesheen Glass in Deelight and Zoom Lash Mascara in Zoom Black

What you should know:

  • Deal a day sites can actually be bad for your budget. They’re all about buying on impulse. They create a sense of don’t-miss-out urgency that’s hard to resist. Take a few deep breaths before you buy and ask yourself these three questions:

Can actually use the item? If not, it’s not a bargain at all.

Is there a possibility you’ll want to return the item? All sales are final at some sites.

Is it still a deal after you factor in shipping costs?

  • Keep in mind that some of the items may be final sale (no returns). Read up on the site’s return/exchange policy before you buy.

  • Do a quick price comp to make sure you’re getting the deal you think you are.

  • Shipping timelines on some items may be extended.

  • Follow my daily deals list on Twitter.
